Congratulations on deciding it is time to seriously consider going to therapy. My name is Jennifer, I am a therapist residing in southeast Michigan. I was born and raised in the northeast San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, CA. I am a first-generation Mexican-American and I speak Spanish fluently. I went to college for my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Washington State University in eastern Washington. I came back home to LA to complete my Master’s degree in Social Work at California State University, Northridge in 2016. For the past 10 years, I have worked in both nonprofit mental health agencies and private practice as a therapist for a variety of populations. I moved to Michigan in 2018 and eventually gained my clinical social work license to practice as an independent therapist, got trained in EMDR and IFS, and Michigan EMDR Therapy was born.
I specialize in trauma but individuals I have worked with have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, PTSD, and bipolar disorders. These individuals may have struggled with lack of motivation, hopelessness, over worrying, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, panic attacks, sleep issues, and more.
